about.
Hi, I'm Daija, like deja vu. I take pride in the origin of my name, as it's from the legendary John Singleton's Higher Learning and Raphael Saadiq's "Ask of You."
As a Social Media Strategist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, I create and manage digital content that showcases the excellence and impact of one of the best academic medical centers in the state. I use my skills in social video production, creative writing, and digital journalism to craft engaging and captivating stories that connect with diverse audiences and support the medical center and teaching hospital's mission and vision.
My previous experience includes working as a Morning Reporter for KEZI 9 News, where I delivered informative stories and breaking news to the Eugene, OR, community through live broadcasts five days a week. I have also contributed to Rambler Newspaper, a publication based in Irving, TX.
After graduate school, I spent some time working for the City of Mesquite as their Convention & Visitors Bureau Marketing Coordinator, highlighting the city as the leading travel destination through engaging and data-driven marketing strategies.
I hold a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas, where I was recognized as a Mayborn Graduate Scholar, Senior Arts & Lifestyle Writer, and Teacher & Research Assistant. I also possess a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Prairie View A&M University, where I was actively involved in various media-related organizations and internships.
I enjoy broadening my creative marketing and journalistic skills, and I embrace challenges to bring my ideas to fruition. Most importantly, my goal is to craft authentic, inspiring, and thought-provoking stories that elicit genuine emotions from my audience.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio!
